But there was this one incident that I’ll never forget. I witnessed a senior female executive wearing a pink velour tracksuit to the office. The General Manager called me into his office and asked if I thought that’s how people should dress for work.
At that very moment, I realised the disservice this talented and amazing woman was doing to herself and her leadership image. She failed to realise just how powerful her image is.
The sad reality is that she could go through her whole career dressing in a way that completely undermines her intelligence and experience. Throwing on the “it will do” outfit” in the hope that no-one will notice simply doesn’t work.
